Fred Santiago joined Funk & Bolton, P.A. in 2007, following two decades as an insurance regulator. Mr. Santiago supports the Insurance Regulation Practice Group as a Regulatory Affairs Analyst in the firm's Baltimore office.
Mr. Santiago assists insurers with a variety of regulatory matters, including licensing and form filing projects, and has undertaken a series of complex compliance auditing projects for insurers since joining the firm. Mr. Santiago also serves as the Executive Director and lobbyist for the Maryland Insurance Alliance, a state trade association for property and casualty insurers that conduct business in Maryland. In all of these endeavors, Mr. Santiago draws on his extensive knowledge of and experience in the regulation of the insurance industry including form filing and rating methodology, underwriting and termination issues, consumer complaints, market conduct matters, and a host of other compliance issues.
From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Santiago was the manager of compliance and products for Montgomery Mutual Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group. Previously, he held a variety of positions at the Maryland Insurance Administration, most recently as Director of Property and Casualty.
