Mary T. Porter is a member of Funk & Bolton, P.A. in the firm's Baltimore office. Ms. Porter's practice focuses on insurance coverage,
high exposure insurance claims litigation, litigation management and mediation of insurance disputes.
Ms. Porter's thirty years of experience includes private practice and in-house insurance company senior legal and management positions.
Until 1993, Ms. Porter was a partner in the Washington, DC firm of Mahoney, Hogan, Heffler & Heald where her practice focused on insurance
defense and coverage litigation. That year, she joined USF&G to lead the Company's Claims Legal National Coverage Program, and became Vice President,
National Coverage Counsel following the merger of USF&G and the St. Paul Companies. After the merger of the St. Paul and Travelers, Ms. Porter was
Vice President, Coverage Group Counsel until 2006. From 2007 through 2009 Ms. Porter served as Executive Vice President, Chief Claims Officer of New
Jersey based Selective Insurance Company of America.
While leading in-house legal programs providing insurance coverage opinions and coverage litigation management in all lines of business nationwide,
Ms. Porter was responsible for developing company coverage positions, drafting policy form language and supervising high exposure general liability,
construction defect and other coverage litigation such as the property insurance litigation arising after 9/11.
Ms. Porter is a member of DRI, The Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, a past president of the District of Columbia Defense Lawyers Association and was a member of the board of directors of the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
